HOW TO TIE THE PERFECT BOW ON YOUR GIFTS THIS CHRISTMAS

Did you know that changing one tiny little step in how you tie a ribbon onto your gifts will totally change how they look and make them so much neater and prettier!

Most of us tie a ribbon the same way we do up our shoelaces, which is understandable as we aren’t trying to make them look pretty to put them under our Christmas tree! Usually this involves creating the first half of the bow and wrapping the other piece of ribbon in-front of it. Once you pull it through you have your ribbon with its two ‘tails’ pointing in opposite directions, rather than both coming down below the bow. To be honest, most of the time this doesn’t look too bad, but if you want to give your ribbon-tying skills a glow up just follow this one change to make them even better:

All you need to do is start your bow as normal by creating the first loop, then wrap the other part of the ribbon around the back of it (rather than the front), passing it through the space your fingers create just as you normally would. I’ll be honest, this took me quite some time to get used to because it feels alien at first, but once you practice it you will be creating gorgeous, symmetrical bows that make your gifts even more beautiful!

Final tip:

Remember to take some time to tidy the bow. You may need to pull on the ‘tails’ to even up the loops, or fiddle with a loop to make it neater and stand out more. Just play around until you have the bow looking super cute. Finally, don’t forget to trim the ends of the tails with some sharp scissors!

If time is tight and tying the perfect bow isn’t at the top of your list this Christmas (which I totally understand), why not let me do it for you? I have a whole selection of ‘under-the-tree-ready’ gifts which come beautifully wrapped and presented in a hand-stamped gift box, with a gift tag and (more importantly) tied with a gorgeous green ribbon!

Let me know how you get on trying these tips!
